With access into Umhlanga New Town and onto the N2 via the M41, the newest industrial node lies 25km from Durban port and 12km from King Shaka International Airport. The new home of major tenants such as Paton Tupper and Hurt & Carter, the area is also home to LG Electronics, Bidfood, and SG Group. With land still available to develop, the area has a number of micro-industrial parks as well some big stand-alone warehouses with a variety of mid-sized industrial parks also available. Rentals are higher in the Cornubia area due to the fact that the land cost is in excess of R1,600/m², with existing buildings achieving minimum gross rentals in excess of R75/m². The industrial node has 24-hour manned security with a security association to manage all the areas in and around the industrial parks. The Mini-industrial parks are all very secure. In terms of amenities, there is the 35,000m² Cornubia Mall, as well as excellent public transport including the plans for a Rapid Bus Transport System that will run straight into Umhlanga New Town. A major warehousing attraction is the New Cornubia Ridge development along the N2 highway with its anchor tenant being Makro, and a brand new 23,000m2 warehouse ready for occupation.
